How to Grill Pie


Four steps to perfect grilled strawberry pie


Grilled pies are all the rage this summer. They keep the kitchen cool yet still give us that home-baked taste we all love. And the best part? They’re easy. Don’t sweat it if you’re a newbie to the trend. Grab your pie crust and follow these four simple steps to making strawberry pie on the grill.

Step 1: Prepare the Crust



Unroll the pie crust and place it in an ungreased pie pan. In a medium bowl, mix the strawberries, the sugar and the cornstarch. With the back of a spoon, spread the preserves evenly over the crust. Spoon the strawberry mixture on top. Slightly fold the crust over the filling.

Step 2: Arrange Pans on the Grill



Place an empty pie pan upside-down on the grill to make an elevated surface. Place the pan with your pie on top of the first pie pan so it’s elevated off grill.

Step 3: Grill the Pie



Cover the grill; cook 20 to 25 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.

Step 4: Cool



Remove the pie from the grill; cool 10 minutes before serving.
