Fruity Drinks to Sling with Pride

Fruity Drinks to Sling with Pride

by LAUREN HODGE

Pigskin season kicks off tonight, TV’s newest pilots air next week and its about time to switch from iced coffee to regular. In short, fall is here. But just because summer’s sailed doesn’t mean we have to give up on summer cocktails. A recent vodka “tutorial” with our friends from 42Below made that point clear when they let us indulge in over a dozen fruity vodka-infused libations. Yes, we take our work very seriously.

We polled our staff to come up with our top five. Here are the recipes, so you can whip up a little bit of summer at home, whenever you feel like it. Cheers.

HONEY JULEP

your Derby drink done differently

Calls for:
•30 mls (1 oz) 42BELOW Honey
•15 mls (1/2 oz) pineapple juice
•15 mls (1/2 oz) part gomme or simple syrup
•6 chunks of pineapple
•12 mint leaves
•Dash of Angostura bitters
In a highball glass, muddle together the pineapple and mint with simple syrup, then add spirits and juice. Fill with crushed ice, then churn before serving with a pineapple chunk and a sprig of mint.

CUCUMBER COLLINS

so refreshing you'll want to splash your face with it

Calls for:
•1 1/2 parts vodka (unflavored)
•1/3 part fresh lemon juice
•1/3 part simple or sugar syrup
•3 parts soda water
•2 parts cucumber juice, or 6 large chunks of cucumber, peeled and diced
•Cucumber peel to garnish
In a mixing glass, muddle together the cucumber chunks (if using chunks). Then combine 42BELOW Vodka, juices and simple syrup, and fill with ice. Shake well, then strain into a Collins or highball glass filled with crushed ice. Top with soda water and garnish with a long strip of cucumber peel.

KIWI BERRY CAIPIROSKA

change the way you see kiwi with this good-looking concoction
